Some of your favourite foods were invented by us! (part1)

You may know a huge body of your favourite foods were made by us super cool Brits, right? Turns out not all the best foodie inventions are from the Americans (although yes, McDonalds and doughnuts did – sigh), and we’re actually surprisingly great at coming up with tasty delights.

Here is a short list of some foods we, rather unbelievably, invented. The Queen must be so proud.

Pot Noodle

Though instant noodles were themselves created by the Japanese in the 1950s, the humble Pot Noodle is a UK invention. Yup, America, we can make unhealthy, convenient meals too. We can truly claim.

We are good at making our own unhealthy food, apparently as well.

Hula Hoops

We’ve invented most of the fun crisps, exemplified by Quavers and Wotsits. We need more praise from the rest of the world for this, is it right? Sure then.

Balti curries

We are famous for inventing the tikka masala, but turns out the Balti is another dish we’ve been trying to proclaim is Indian. It’s rumored that it comes from curry houses in Birmingham. Glamorous.
